Weekly journal 1

Weekly Journal 1

This is the last project of cnc and meanwhile we are required to make a weekly journal during every tutorial to note down progress of every week. Today, we are required to make a new tab for this weekly journal. Then, i need to write a reflection based on the places and theme. Lecturers ask us to select a theme by today and then post the 5 places which we interested in our eportfolio. The theme that I have chosen is Fusion Architecture. The other options included Malaysian architecture, Religious architecture as well as spaces and people. Based on my opinion, fusion has a meaning of 'blend' or 'mix'. Moreover, fusion architecture is a type of architecture of blending of 2 cultures or elements or above. In malaysia, there is a lot of fusion architecture due to the colonial era had left pretty much heritage for the youngsters. The theme of the fusion architecture that I will be doing is either Art Deco building or Mughal and Moorish architecture. The structure of Art Deco is founded on mathematical geometric shapes which drew equally on Greco-Roman Classicism, the faceted architectural forms of Babylon, Assyria, Ancient Egypt, and Aztec Mexico. Mughal architecture was an amalgam of Islamic, Persian, and Indian architecture. I still not sure whether which kind of style is better for this assignment so I need lecturer's suggestions.

For Mughal and Moorish architecture I will do places as below :

Sultan Abdul Samad building which is one of the landmark of Kuala Lumpur

National Textile Museum which located at jalan raja

Old FMS Survey Office Building

Old Kuala Lumpur Railway Station

KTM Headquarters Kuala Lumpur

The following photos below is buildings with Art Deco design in Kuala Lumpur

Oriental Buildiing which located at the opposite with the Masjid Jamek LRT station.

Lee Rubber Building which now houses Popular book store at Petaling Street

Central Market which is one of the masterpieces of art deco building in KL

The OCBC bank

Lastly, The Coliseum cinema which located at Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman

I am interested in this two topic which i have provided as above.

After researching on these information, I felt surprised that actually there are a lot of beautiful fusion architecture around us and I didnt realized at all. From this tutorial progress, my knowledge towards fusion architecture grow from zero to a higher level.
